Free Moped and Scooter Bill of Sale Template

A moped bill of sale records a moped or motor scooter changing hands: the moped, the price, the date, and the people signing. The template has a line for the engine size in cc, or that it is electric, so one bill of sale can record a gas or an electric moped or scooter.

This page covers the template only, and it does not cover titling, registration or licensing of mopeds. This site's vehicle state pages, listed on the vehicle bill of sale page, are written for selling a car, truck or van, not for selling mopeds. A motorcycle has its own template.

What to write about the moped

The template has a line for each of these, so the moped can be told apart from any other.

  • Year, make and model
  • Engine size in cc, or that it is electric
  • VIN or serial number
  • Title or registration number, if it has one
  • The odometer reading, if it has one
  • A helmet, keys or other items sold with it
  • Its condition, as the seller describes it

A moped or a motorcycle

For a motorcycle, there is the motorcycle bill of sale, with the odometer lines of the vehicle bill of sale. This page does not say which vehicles count as a moped and which as a motorcycle.

Frequently asked questions

Does the moped template have an odometer statement?

No. It has one line for the odometer reading, if the moped or scooter has one, and no line for a statement about the reading. This page does not say whether the federal odometer rule applies to a particular moped. The odometer disclosure statement page quotes parts of the federal rule, each with its section.

Does the moped template have a line for a title or registration number?

Yes. It has one line for a title or registration number, for a moped or scooter that has one. This page does not cover titling, registration or licensing of mopeds.

Does the moped template have a notary section?

No. Below the lines for the moped or scooter and any helmet, keys or other items sold with it, the template ends with the Sale part and the signature lines. This page does not cover state rules for mopeds.
